in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Without seeing the actual artwork and knowing about its size and the appearances, it will be impüossible to help you.

Please show:

The brush and its settings

The artwork

The selected artwork and the appearance panel. That is in Window > Appearance

Please embed the images in your posts and don't attach them.

It might not look like so on the surface, but those are a gazillion anchorpoints that Illustrator has to handle in this drawing (internally).

How much RAM do you have installed?

You can probably get this to work by rebooting the computer and then launchin only Illustrator. Nothing else. No, not even the browser. Above all not the browser. Does it work?

I will reboot and try again.

i figured it was all the points but seems like a simple drawing.  if there a way to simplify or merge nodes?

The drawing might be rather simple, but the brush is not. And while you do not see it, Illustrator still has to handle it.
