Hi can anyone please help? I just spent 6 hours working on a project only for Adobe to crash. On investigation, the "autosave function" was not working even though turned on. When I try to open the backup aid file, Illustrator just keeps crashing.

Can someone please, please help.

The Recovery function is not autosave.

Don't ever rely on it alone.

Have you worked on you file without saving it for 6 hours? You have tosave your files. Rcovery will only work if things donot get too bad. But if Illustrator shuts down (power outage) or crashes while it is saving, then things go south.

Save early. Save often. Save multiple versions of a file.

That said: The Illustrator team might take a  look at the recovered file. They are sometimes able to recover parts of it. Do not put too much hope into it. @Anshul_Saini can you please try?

Hi, I am relatively new to Adobe suite and started learning to support my marketing for my business. I wrongly assumed that the work autosaved after you created the file. This seems quite a basic standard for almost all software these days, so I didn't keep saving every 10 minutes - I used to do that with Coral Draw back in the 90's LOL.

I would be really appreciative if someone could help me recover the file, it was a lot of work the link to the file is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AVVSdpYqDaDU69-PtXRJEvoIbDrD_Pu1/view?usp=sharing

Thank you in advance.

It's not.

On the iPadApple does this, but then you can't even access the file system. So you don't know where your file is.

Apart from that: if you want to be sure that your file is saved, you have to do it. I would not laugh about people who save their file every 10 minutes.

Hello @FitIQ_Asia,

Thanks for sharing the details. It seems the link provided is not public. Would you mind resharing the file so I can try and check it on my end? Although I cannot guarantee a successful recovery, I will try my best to do so.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
