Illustrator 2021 and 2022 Zoom not working correctly after OS update to Monterey

A few issues, the biggest is I can only zoom in a certain amout before my doc / image / art turns grays

Picture 1 is file open to 24% Picture 2 is zoomed to 600% everything goes gray. I have tried GPU on and off.

The othe issue is a can hardly see the size of the document on the screen, its a very very fine gray line, this is secondary to the zoom issue

The above is idental for 21 and 22.

One suggestion to help is to change your canvas color in the AI Preferences/User Interface.

White on light gray is hard to discern in general.

Next, on the larger issue of zoom not showing artwork, go to Preferences/Performance.

Two things to report back on:

1. Does the GPU Perfomance section indicate a Comaptible GPU Available? If yes, then

2. Submit the GPU details

Also something to try is to uncheck the Real Time Drawing option at the bottom (and then restart AI).

Let me know what you find.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes setting the color darker does allows me to see the document edge better. However I've never had to do that before, its always been set to White.  Checking the GPU box on or off and uncheckig real time drawing option on or off have no effect. What I do know is niether of these things was an issue in 10.6 (Big Sur). They happened after updating last week to Monterey... currently 12.2.1

Have you upgraded your AI after installing Monterey?

You can install CC2022 to test and keep your existing version.

Yes, I have both 2021 and 2022 on it. They both run, however they both have the same issue with the zoom. Funny I was using Illustrator CS with zero issues on Big Sur. That won't work anymore on Montery, its either 21 or 22

Just to be clear, I was running 2021 on Big Sur without any issues. This is clearly and problem with Montery.

To screen shots, one at 100% the other at 150% (gray). It doesn't matter what I have on the document. It could be a tiff image from PS. I could be some vector art, it could be blank.... this is what happens.

What happens if you turn Overprint Preview off? Any change?

BingO... That worked, I can zoom it fine. Never thought of that because its always On. I work Prepress and it really needs to be on all the time for my so I can make sure colors, trapping etc... are correct. But for now I guess I will have to have it turned off when zooming.

Thanks

One last suggestion - have you reset your preferences in AI since upgrading the OS?

You can easily reset by going to Preferences/General and clicking "Reset Preferences".

If that doesn't work, you can always submit the bug to the Illustrator team:

Our company is located in Philadelphia. What is the chance of getting someone from Adobe or an Adobe specialist to come in a look at our system

Unfortuately, this is a user to user forum. If your company has an enterprise account, they would have a dedicated team you could reach out to. Otherwise if you contact Adobe Customer Care, they can assist virtually (click the chat bubble bottom right on the linked page).
