I recently updated my macOS to Sonoma 14.1 also took the opportunity to updated my Creative Cloud apps (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop for now). Then whilst using Illustrator I found that the swatch panel isn't working (click on object and choose swatch... nothing happens). I've quit, restarted and search this Community, so far nothing. This is a real problem as I use this everyday for my design business, put simply, I can't change colours on anything. Any advice please. My guess is Apple macOS update has done this, but knwoing the culprit doesn't fix my issue.

Does it work when you turn on the Application frame?

I thought the issue was resolved, but it isn't. This morning, restarted my Mac, opened Illustrator and low and behold, the Swatch panel doesn't work. It's there, I can see it, but can't select anything. I can change swatches using the top left info bar, but not using the swatch panel. I did try closing the Application Frame and opening and nothing. It's a glitch I've never heard of before. I've just tried a new thing whil;st writing this, switching Workspace from Essentials to Essentials Classic and others and the swatch panel works. So the issue I have is the Workspace Essentials.

So for you it is solved when you do not use the "Essentials" workspace?
Asking this because this might be a clue to solve the issue for others as well.

Yes, it appears so. Only have an issue with Swtach panel whilst using the Essentials workspace. Strange.

Thank you for confirming.

Ok, so for now, forget all of the above. I simply moved a few windows around, combined Colour Guide with Swatches panel and hey presto… it now works. Thankfully I got this in before anyone bothered to look into my issue.
