Using the latest AI version 29.1
When I click in into an existing text box and edit the copy - the font is changed for the new typed text. It doesn't maintain the font of the text that I am editing.
Bug? Any ideas why?

Hello @richards80293164,
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing more details, like the OS version, whether Illustrator behaves this way with all files, and a screen recording of your workflow and the problem, so I can better assist you?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Anubhav,
Thanks for your quick response.
I am using an iMac M3 running Sonoma 14.7. Just noticed this odd behaviour after installing latest Illustrator update. It happens with pre existing text boxes from current working files. New documents with newly created text boxes don't seem to have the effect.
See the screen recording I've taken as an example.
Thanks
Richard

Hi Anubhav,
I am having the exact same issue since updating to Illustrator v29.1 yesterday. This bug does not seem to affect newly created files in v29.1, only files created using previous versions of Illustrator. When I open an Illustrator file (created before v29.1) and change a font and then edit the text, Illustrator keeps changing the font back to whatever it was the last time the file was saved before upgrading to v29.1 — every single time.
Here is a list of scenarios I have already tested:
As you can imagine, this wastes an incredible amount of time —having to undo these font changes every time I need to edit some text.
I am running an iMac (3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5) on macOS Ventura 13.7.1. The screen recording that @richards80293164 shared with you is exactly what I am experiencing. Recommendations?
Thanks,
Mike.

Another temporary solution is to uncheck "Enable Missing Glyph Protection" in the settings panel until Adobe fixes this issue. You can find this setting under the "Illustrator / Settings... / Type..." menu. Not perfect, but at least you don't have to downgrade.
