Illustrator 2025 compatibility issue with SVG export for EZ-CAD2

New Here ,
Jun 20, 2025 Jun 20, 2025

Hi all I've been using Illustrator 2023 version because I can't get any later versions to export my SVG files correctly into my EZ-CAD 2 software, the SVG parameters are the same (though I've had more success with saving 2025 as an SVG 1.0 and using 2023 SVG saved as SVG 1.1 version) but I keep getting this bizarre set of lines to one corner of the artboard that aren't there in illustrator.  I've tried experimenting with SVG settings but can't get rid of it, oddly it only seems to be there on round artwork (something that's almost round in shape).  Attached various examples and the SVG from 2023 illustrator that works fine (including the PNG of what it looks like when imported into EZ cad.) hopefully someone can help me get to the bottom of it as I can't keep having to use legacy softward eventually it will stop working!

Thanks,

Stevie

Please take screenshots using the proper system tools (and not your phone).

I would check for open paths.

Thanks it was tricky for me to screenshot as I use two different machines for each part o the work but I've managed to do it - I've attached  two SVG file 'save as' that I do from 2023 and then 2025 and what they look like on Ezcad when opened for reference.  The process of creating them is the same for both versions of illustration which is:

Object - image trace - expand - select same fill colour (white) and delete it - save as svg (as per screenshots).  I use SVG 1.0 on 2025 as if I use SVG 1.1 on 2025 it's not even remotely close (screenshot of 2025 version opened vector as SVG 1.1)

Hopefully that helps.  In terms for 'open paths' I'm not creating any paths as such, I've had the same simple actions to create image traces for use on my engraving machine as described above, it's not not giving me the same results on 2025 when the method is identical so I can only assume it's something to do with the SVG parameters.

Thanks for any help!

Stevie

Can you check if the paths are closed?

Just go to the Document info panel and set it to "Objects" in the panel menu and then select all.

Have you tried exporting the artwork in any of the SVG Tiny formats?

I've also tried 'export as SVG' too - usually I 'save as SVG' rather than export which works fine on 2023 - didn't work with two different decimal places input.  Will attach screenshots of results on EZ cad and of 'export as' settings if it helps.

That's unfortunate none of the Tiny formats will work. Not too long ago I had a similar problem with exporting SVG files from Illustrator to a large format printing RIP application (Onyx Thrive) to do cut-only jobs on a vinyl plotter. The regular SVG format stopped working; changing the export to SVG Tiny 1.1 solved the problem. SVG is a frustrating format to use.

So in short there's no known solution?  Svg is the format I need to import into my laser software so I'm a bit stuck if I can't get it to work!

Bizarrely I have just tried the tiny SVG files on my other computer (I'm running two engraving machines) and it worked perfectly so I think it must be a software issue with the EZ-CAD version that the engraving machines come with so I'm going to take it up with them.
