Illustrator 2025 crashing too often and a warning when restart

New Here ,

Hello,
I'm experiencing Illustrator crashes too often. Today I've tried to create a 10 pages document, all freezes for 20 min aprox and then I've to force quit. When restart the app a warning appears "looks like someone else is using your Adobe account", but it's only me! See attached (in spanish).
I have a Macbook pro 2020, 15", 16 GB RAM and OSX Sequoia.

Thank you,

Alejandra

Try resetting your Illustrator preferences. This will restore the program to its defaults and, hopefully improve Illustrator's performance.

To reset preferences on a Mac:

The User Library folder in which Illustrator’s preferences are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that Illustrator is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N).With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called “Adobe Illustrator <Version #> Settings” (earlier versions of Illustrator might just say “Adobe Illustrator”) and the file called “com.adobe.Illustrator.plist” and delete both that folder and that file. When Illustrator is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.

The advantage of manually deleting preference files in this manner is that after you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

Hi @Aleare Works,

Thanks for sharing the details. I can imagine how frustrating frequent crashes can be. I checked for any crash reports submitted under your community email address but couldn't find any. When Illustrator crashes, please make sure to submit the report via the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog box that appears. Kindly include a brief description of what you were doing before the crash.

Once submitted, please DM me the email address you used while submitting the crash report so I can locate the logs and have our team review them further. Reference: Share crash report with Adobe

Also, please follow the steps shared by the expert to reset Illustrator preferences, as that often helps resolve performance issues. If the problem still persists, I recommend checking out the suggestions in this thread here: https://adobe.ly/44jvqJF

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek

No crash reporter dialog box appears after the crashes. That's why I am here. Before the crashing I was working with Chrome (wordpress and elementor) and Photoshop, nothing unusual in my everyday work.

Hello @Aleare Works,

Could you try the following steps to check if they help:

  1. Cmd + click the InDesign application icon, and choose Show Package Contents.
  2. Choose Contents Frameworks AdobeCrashReporter.framework.
  3. Cmd + click the alias named AdobeCrashReporter, and then select Show Original.
  4. Double-click Adobe Crash Reporter.
  5. Choose Always Show This Dialog, and click Done.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
