Illustrator 27.6 several bugs - please find a prompt solution and update

Adobe has released a new version, 27.6, with at least two important bugs on Windows:

1) After the start up the App shows a blank home page even if the preferences are correcty setted.
It's possible to open a file or create a new document from the file menu but not from the home page.

Once a document is opened, the home page turns back available and you can switch from the workspace to the home page correctly (so the bugs occurs only at the start up).

2) With the App closed, if I double click on a ai-file, Illustrator will be correctly launched but after the start up it shows only the home page (in this case correctly) but doesn't open the ai-file.

 

Said that, there is still not an official page where the new feautures are deeply described.

Why release a new version with such bugs and so disorganized in communication?

Please, I'd like to ear useful informations from some Adobe employer, thank you.

In the meantime I'm forced to roll back to version 27.5.

Thanks for sharing the details. Our team has made some improvements to mitigate these problems in the latest version of Illustrator 27.6.1. Would you mind updating to the latest release and checking if it helps?

 

Kindly note that it might take a while for the update to show up in the Creative Cloud application as the update is being released in a phased manner.

Hello @Da7,

 

We understand that experiencing technical difficulties can be frustrating. Could you please try the following steps and see if they help:

 

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Rename the UXP folder to ~UXP from the following location:
    For Windows: Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP
    For macOS: Navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP
  • Relaunch Illustrator

 

If the issue persists, kindly try to manually reset Illustrator's preferences and share your observations:

 

For macOS

• Close all Adobe applications.

• Go to the following locations

• ~/Library/Caches

• ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

• ~/Library/Preferences

• Rename Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings.old

• Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

 

Note: Location starting with this "~" sign indicates the User Library, which is hidden. So, you need to copy & paste the exact path in spotlight search or from Finder Menu > Go > Go to Folder > Paste the location in the dialog box like this:

For Windows

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Go to Location C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

- Rename Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator - 27 Settings.old

- Relaunch Illustrator from Creative Cloud

 

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

 

If Illustrator continues to behave erratically, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, system config (CPU/GPU/Memory), and a screen recording of the problem (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/screen-record-an-issue-on-windows-amp-macos-f...), so we can investigate this further?

Hi Anubhav, I followed the two steps but unfortunately all both do not resolve. The home page is still blank and I also resetted manually all the preferences.
