I am new to Illustrator and just following some online tutorials for lettering and making it 3D with 'inflate'. Whenever i click the Ray Tracing toggle and set the quality to 'high' the progress bar just sits there. It can take up to 10 minutes for it to work, and afterwards, if I try to move the selected piece at all, every thing I do, it's another 10 minutes. A simple square with the effect takes about 2 minutes. I have a MACbook pro, with the M1 chip.

Raytracing is the highest quality and 3D generally eats RAM for breakfast, lunch and supper.

Can you show us a screenshot of your artwork? How complex is it? Which materials are you using?

How much RAM is installed in your Mac?
