Illustrator Artboard Not Rendering Shown Layers after Unhiding

New Here ,
Nov 19, 2025 Nov 19, 2025

Hey there!

Long time listener... first time caller! As the Subject says, layers don't appear when being told to shown. Sometimes they don't hide when being told to be hidden. See the attached video for an example.

Thanks!

If this helps anyone, I uninstalled 30.0 and went back to 29.0. Now it's working as it should! Before downgrading I restarted my PC multiple times, uninstalled/reinstalled Illustrator several times, reset my preferences, and tried to delete my settings folder. Nothing else worked!

Hello @benbarrett,

I appreciate the update, and I'm pleased to hear that the rollback served as a temporary solution. I verified this on my end using Illustrator 30.0 on Windows 11 and was unable to replicate the issue, so it would be helpful if you could specify the exact version of Windows you are using. Additionally, please check if this issue occurs in all documents or just in a particular file. If it appears to be limited to one file, consider copying the artwork into a new document and see if the layers behave correctly there.

If you can share the file that is experiencing the issue for testing purposes, feel free to send it via DM or through a public link such as Drive or Dropbox. After you have gone through these steps, let me know what you find.

Looking forward to hearing back.

Abhishek

Hello @Abhishek Rao,

I'm using Windows 11, version 10.0.26200 Build 26200.

It originally did seem to be tied to one original file, however I did try copying the vector to a new Illustrator file and had the same issues.

Thanks for your reply!
Ben

Hello @benbarrett,

Thanks for confirming. Could you check if this happens with new files as well, without any objects from the original problematic file? If it does not, there could be a specific object/layer in that file that causes this. To find it, try copying a part of the objects to a new file until the problem reappears and let us know how it goes.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Anubhav
