Hi, is there someone else with the problem that backspace erares text very slowly? Illustrator is running perfectly, but as soon as I hit backspace when editing text it takes about 4 seconds to erase 1 character.

Which version, which system?

When was the last time you rebooted the system?

Which font is it and does it happen with all fonts?

Do you use font management?

How many fonts are installed?

How long is the textframe?

Hello @Thijs3,

Sorry to hear about the problem. Would you mind sharing a few more details along with the ones asked above by Monika:

  • Is this happening in other applications as well?
  • Please check if toggling Ctrl/Cmd + E helps.
  • Is this happening with some specific files?

I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Exact same problem for me. Everything is working fine and as fast as I am used to (for Adobe's mediocre level of "smooth" then). But in a textfield it goes crazy slow when trying to backspace one or more characters.

  • Which version, which system?
    • Adobe Illustrator 2023 (27.1.1) - macOS 13.01 - Apple M1 Max - 16' MacBook Pro - 32GB Ram
  • When was the last time you rebooted the system?
    • This morning, happens no matter of freshness of boot or app start
  • Which font is it and does it happen with all fonts?
    • Both system, custom as Adobe Fonts
  • Do you use font management?
    • Only the installed macOS font manager and have activated one font (Montserrat) via Adobe Fonts
  • How many fonts are installed?
    • 44 custom - no conflicts according to macOS font manager
  • How long is the textframe?
    • Happens with both small text area's as bigger ones. In text area but also in text line (point text?)
  • Is this happening in other applications as well?
    • Nope, also not in other Adobe apps
  • Please check if toggling Ctrl/Cmd + E helps.
    • Just tried it. Even with CPU preview enabled it is terribly slow in backspacing characters
  • Is this happening with some specific files?
    • No, I even just tried a new Cloud document. I normally work with local files
