Illustrator (Beta v30.1) frequently freezes and shows “Not Responding” while editing files

Hi Adobe Team,

I’m using Illustrator (Beta) v30.1 (89) on Windows, and over the last two days, the app has been frequently freezing and showing “Not Responding” while working on my brochure design files.

Details:

  • Version: Illustrator (Beta) v30.1 (#89)

  • System: Windows 10 (64-bit)

  • File type: CMYK .AI

  • Approx. file size: [add here, e.g., 200 MB]

  • Issue frequency: Every 10–15 minutes, especially while zooming (2400%), moving objects, or editing shapes.

  • Status: App freezes; the cursor still moves, but Illustrator becomes unresponsive and needs to be closed from Task Manager.

Troubleshooting tried:

  • Disabled GPU Performance

  • Lowered zoom

  • Cleared temp files and scratch disks

  • Reset Illustrator preferences

The issue still persists after the recent update (updated 4 days ago). Could you please check if this is related to performance handling in the latest Beta build?

Thanks,

@realistic_Zenith5086 The Beta version is a testing and refining new features. Have you thought of using the more stable Illustrator 2026 instead?

Thanks for the suggestion! I completely understand that the Beta version is experimental, but I’m continuing to use it mainly to help test and report issues so the team can refine it further.

I’ve been experiencing frequent  Not Responding  freezes, especially when zooming in, moving objects, or working on larger CMYK layouts. I’ll keep documenting these and sharing details so the dev team can look into performance optimization in upcoming builds.

Hopefully, the next update addresses this .I’ll test again and report back

Are you using your mouse scroll wheel for zooming?

There have been issues reported with mouse wheels. I'm not sure whether that affects any mouse wheel, certain hardware or certain drivers. Or whether yours is related to that.

So maybe something you can try.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, that makes sense — I’m using the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out, and the freezing usually happens during that action. I’ll check if my mouse driver or scroll settings could be part of the issue.
