Illustrator CC 2018 version 22.0.1- Freezing / crashing

Since upgrading to Illustrator CC 2018 version 22.0.1 keeps freezing when i use the Gradient Tool.

System: MacBook Pro late 2017

I click on the tool and the application freezes - can still open menus but everything is greyed out. Can close document (& save when dialogue appears) cannot quit the application. Have to use activity monitor to force quit the application.

Have you restarted the computer?

Reset the preferences?

Restarted and cleared preferences multiple times - not just limited to Gradient Tool. Now happening when doing lots of different things - seems pretty random. Almost like app is waiting for a response from a dialogue window / option panel (that is not visible) and freezes app completely - can open menus but all options greyed out.

App wont actually quit unless use activity monitor and 'force quit'......it's like the app is caught up doing something

Try disabling the GPU acceleration in the preferences.

I'm having the EXACT same issue as liam_p.....

so am I, 3 crashes in 12 hours all connected to gradient palette use. I've restarted, cleared all caches, deleted illustrator prefs etc. I have 44gb of ram on a mac pro tower/ssd and no other .ai issues.

Going to turn off GPU and keep fingers crossed.
