Illustrator CC logo export

New Here ,
Mar 12, 2017 Mar 12, 2017

Hey! Ive been checking out countless tutorials and searched web for help. I just started to use illustrator. Im making logos just for fun. Mainly for videos and pictures. My problem is the saving and exporting. Im working on Mac.

So I got my logo: just plain good logo. I wanna add it to JPEG pictures. Always when I do that and try to save it/export it literally looks like pixels and the picture is really bad quality, the image looks so horribly. I don't know what I should do. What are the right dimensions and best export settings etc.

All my stuff goes to : Facebook/instagram from my phone and computer

1) I did the logo = Should I save it to some kinda file before I can add it to my pictures or can I just copy and paste it in Illustrator = if not = Do I export/save it and what is the best settings for it.

2) For example I got picture of my dog in jpeg and I wanna add the logo to it. How do I do that and when I'm done what is the best export/save file/ settings to do it so I can upload it to Facebook instagram via my iPhone

Ive been struckling so hard with these questions and Im so hyped about this amazing program, but this makes me really frustrated..

Thanks so much, Oliver

Oliver,

Whenever possible (if possible), you may be happier with PNG24 than JPEG.

In any case, you may use Save for Web, which is now hidden away in File>Export>Save for Web (Legacy), and set the exact pixel x pixel size for the final use, and (for JPEG) use Maximum quality.

Also - are you trying to add it to your jpegs in Illustrator, or in Photoshop? If you're bringing it all into Photoshop, you don't really need to export your logo. Just save it as an Illustrator file. Then, in Photoshop, use File>Place to get your logo into the opened jpeg. It'll stay nice and clean that way, since it's not converted to pixels (rasterized) before bringing it into Photoshop.

Here is an example. The logo seems to be bit pixeled. I did it as save for web and saved as PNG-24 I think. The lines don't seem to be sharp... and thank so much everybody for answering and trying to help. I really appreciate it! Im struggling with this program and trying to do some cool stuff, but thank god there is people like you that are willing to help ❤️

You won't be able to get this without some pixel steps. a raster image consists of pixels after all. These lines are just too thin and contrast is too high on that black background.

Hi Oliver

PNG's at 1080x1080 or higher work great for me.  Keep in mind Facebook will always change your image and drop quality a bit.

What you want to do is add a watermark.

It depends on what exactly you want to make it look like? Do you just want to slap it onto that photo? Or have it somehow translucent? Or want to make it differently in each photo depending on the photo?

You can place it into that photo as has already been proposed.

You can also paste it in as a path or shape layer. Then the logo shapes are accessible in Photoshop and you can color them individually.

You could prepare a template PSD file that already has the logo in it. Or your could place the logo from your CC libraries into your photos.

You might want to read some tutorials on how to add a watermark to your photo, which will show you different ways to design this. And maybe then you can be a little more precise as to how this should look like.
