Illustrator could not read the link replace to select another link

Just downloaded the 7 day trial Adobe Ilustrator.

System HP laptop Intel I7-9750H 2.6Ghz 2.58 

16GB Ram 2TB hard drive. 64 Bit 

I have an SVG image that that I open

1/Create Outlines

2/Rasterize

3/Export as DXF System says not responding then export finishes about 20 seconds later to a file where i have  a DXF file and a png file.

4/When i try to open the dxf file I get the error message. "Ilustrator could not red the link "xxxx" click to replace to select another link or click ignor.

Update - I found when I lowered the resolution to 225ppi or less when using Rasterize the problem went away. I am hoping to find a  solution to get back to 300ppi

  • The exact version of Illustrator.
  • Is the issue related to a specific document?
  • Could you please share the .Ai document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link here to via DM.
  • Where are you saving the files (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System/ External HDD)?
  • What is the resolution/ dimension of your artboard?

Hi There! Was there any other resolution on this? My illustrator, all of a sudden doesn't like PNG files... .ai files will not read existing .png links or import new .pngs.

Also, you can try installing the previous Illustrator version: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html

We are sorry for the trouble. I would like to know if you have tried resetting preferences or reinstalling the previous version as suggested by @marliton?

If that didn't help, would you mind confirming the exact version of macOS & Illustrator and if this is happening with a specific file or all?

Also, please confirm where your files & links are saved (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System/ External HDD).
