Illustrator crashes in Mac OS 11 Big Sur

Explorer ,
Nov 14, 2020 Nov 14, 2020

Hi,

I installed Big Sur in my laptop to test all of my programs first and I can't get Illustrator 2021 to open. I get the splash screen and it just sits there. I don't have any issues with InDesign or Photoshop. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi all,

Sorry about this trouble. There could be multiple reasons why the application would crash. I would request if you could try the steps mentioned on this page (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/how-to-fix-a-crash-and-recover-documents-in-illustrator/td-p/11434061?page=1) and share your observations with us.

You may also try to remove the folder "com.adobe.illustrator" from ~/library/caches, restart your mac and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Srishti

Remove Illustrator using Creative Cloud. Reinstall illustrator.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm not glad to hear that so many others are having this issue. I'm infuriated!!!!! an 8-minute task took over an hour and a half recently. I'm running Big Sur, version 11.3 on a MacMini M1. At first AI was lightning fast. My AI version is up-to-date. I have logged out and restarted. Previously, I uninstalled AI and redownloaded/installed it. Any advice from the pros would be appreciated!

Srishti Bali's answer is no help at all. Nothing is. Until Adobe rewrites/fixes their application software your only option is to uninstall the new version and reinstall the older version. I had the same problem on February 14th, 2022.

Hey found a loop that maybe can be a solution.

When saving and the Illustrator options windows pops up.

Untick the "create PDF compatible file"

Hope it helps
