Illustrator Crashing

I have a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), 

2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9,

64 GB RAM

Illustrator will not open. Beach ball and revving fans. Have to force quit. Try again, no joy.

Adobe - how come this is happening? Need to know, jobs are mounting up.

I have managed to fix this.

I went to >Illustrator >Preferences >Preformance and switched off GPU Performance.

It then worked - phew!
