Illustrator doesn't want to type any text

Hi, could you please help me? When I try to type text in Illustrator - is shows in the layers, but there is nothing on the screen. What to do?

Sorry to hear about this experience. As suggested by Laura,  the Layers might need reordering or the Opacity altered for the text to be visible.

I hope these suggestions shared by her helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly check if Illustrator behaves this way with other files. If it does, kindly try resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html) and sharing y
