Hi there,

I am trying to open an Illustrator file and get the following error - can you shed any light on how to fix this?

"Can't open the illustration. The file may be read only, or the file is in use by another application, or you do not have the required permissions. Please save the document with a different name, or in a different folder or directory. ID: -54"

Thanks,

Jade

Which location is it? Is it perhaps on a network? Can you still download the file and then open it locally?

Have you tried to rename the document and see if you can open it?

Where is the document located?

Do you have the privileges to open a file from there?

Hi Monika,

I would say yes - this is a folder I created and have other documents saved in - I can open and edit the other documents with no problems.

I just spoke with Adobe and it seems that was the issue - it was located on Sharepoint. I will make sure all my Adobe files are local from now on.

Thanks for your help 🙂
