Illustrator files disappearing after save, regardless of how long since they were saved

I'm just a graphic design student, honestly, but I've recently been doing a lot of design work on Illustrator. I recently logged back onto Illustrator after about a 5-day break and was surprised to see that all my files, except one, were gone. The files were still in the folders I saved them to, but they didn't show up. Regardless of how long it had been since I edited them, they all showed up. Even under the recent. In fact, one of the ones that were gone had been edited more recently than the single one that was still there. I still have all my files, I'm just confused about why it had happened. Does anyone know?
