I just tried opening Illustrator and it gave me a crash revoery dialog, except it didn't crash the last time I used it. Before I could click OK or Cancel it went into the recovery process on its own, and then immediately freezes, now it alternates between displaying the recovery dialog and frozen recovery process bar. I can't do anything else, I have to use Task Manager to stop the app.
I am not sure if they are related, but I am currently troubleshooting a Photoshop freezing issue that just started today as well. I am not sure if they are related, but the timing suggests that they are.
What can I do to get Illustrator working again? I am dead in the water right now.
Did you already try and reset the preferences?
Note that this will erase your settings.

You might want to rename the preferences folder since that can be undone.

Adding that I was able to time it just right and press cancel on the recovery dialog box before it disappered, which got Illustrator working again temporarily, but now that progress box shown in my screenshot keeps popping up freezing the program.
This is the most recent version of Illustratur running on Windows 10.
Thanks for any suggestions.

That seemed to fix it. Seems like this is a general Adobe fix-all for some reason, just had to do it with Photoshop too, even though I have never had any reason I can recall where I changed preferences.
This also solved an additional problem I was having with Illustrator before this weird freezing problem, sp bonus.
Thanks for the help.
