Hi,

When I go to add a gradient to a text, for some reason I can add solid colour but when I select the gradient it just goes black, and I can try many different colours to change it from black but it won't change.

Please Help 🙂

Adobe Illustrator is odd like that. You have to use the Appearance panel to add things like gradient fills to live text objects. First, delete the fill of the selected text object. Open the Appearance panel and click the little icon at the bottom of the palette for Add New Fill. You'll see items like Fill and Stroke in a list in the Appearance panel. You can click the Fill drop down menu to add a gradient fill there. Once the gradient is added you can make changes to it.
