I have an AI file with a "Template" layer that used to be ignored whenever I exported the file to a JPG.
This feature is no longer working correctly as now the exports are including data from this layer.
Has this feature changed somehow and I'm not using it correctly or is this a bug that requires fixing.

Yes, I can replicate that, works correct in the 2024 version.

Could you share a screen recording of your exact workflow and the problem so I can better assist you?
Also, try installing an older version of Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/4iNh8EX) and share your observations.

Hi. I don't have any screen recording software on my work computer and I'm certain my employer won't allow it.
Here's an example of what I mean.
Layer 1 is set as a Template with a yellow square on it.
Layer 2 is set as a standard layer with a green square on it.
Up until now, when I exported this to a JPG file, I'd get this result:
But now, the template layer is being exported too so I'm getting this result:
