I have created financial charts for a report, applied 3D effects, and "exported 3D object".
Can I use this result in a printed report successfully, or do I need to export as a wireframe and apply color to create a vector.
Whether there will be banding or not, depends on the printing equipment and of course the exact nature of your artwork. You'd better show the print service your artwork and disciss the matter with them. Have them make a proof at 100% size - this can also be some relevant snippets from the huge artwork.

You exported an OBJ?
If the 3D effect is rendered in a sufficient resolution for the printing process then it's OK to print it. What kind of artwork requirements did the printer give you?

Thank you very much for responding, I had saved as a png file with a high enough resolution for printing, but see now there are other options in the pull-down menu as well. Was wondering if it will render well on press or if it might show banding or any weird artifacts. Thank you for your help!
