ILLUSTRATOR KEEPS CRASHING!!!!!

Every five damn mins it locks up and crashes. File size im working with is only 3mb...click on an object and bam crash... This is getting so old for something that costs $700 a year. every time a new update is put out i makes sure it is not set to auto update yet some how between work it updates and has issues then i have to revert back and resetup everything in my workspace to have it do it again. Im so sick of it. This company has gone. Customer servace is usless and never can solve the issue and will either give you some request or answer or stop responding completly...
