Mike Gondek joined the Adobe family on Feb 05, 2010. We are amazed at the breadth of his expertise in Illustrator. His expertise in Illustrator has helped millions of users that visit our community.
Let's know more about him in his own words:-
My start in the graphics industry was at a very early age setting hot metal and phototype, up until high school. In 1987 as a student at IIT, I was setting a news item for the school newspaper about a new product arriving at the micro lab called Adobe Illustrator. This new software fascinated me, and I stayed in the Microlab until closing time. The manager offered me a job in the Microlab and my daily usage of Adobe products started then. My first job out of college was for an imagesetter reseller, as their Advertising Manager. I designed their print advertising, trained on new installations, provided photography, and designed postscript typefaces for sale. While training at a packaging design agency, I discovered my love of consumer packaging design, regulatory, and printing processes. This was the golden age of computer graphics and I posted tips often to magazines like MacUser, MacChicago & MacWorld. Being a beta tester for Adobe was a great privilege to help shape the software during those years. Hardware and software were advancing so quickly at this time. The Chicago Ad Agency I was at promoted me to Creative Technologies Director. This entailed managing a computer lab with the latest hardware & software and taking over help desk calls related to creative issues & Adobe software. After the new millennium, I was a contractor doing Adobe Certified Training and experienced many of the major cities across our great country. Through my website interesting jobs came my way such as image analysis for the US Navy Pearl Harbor, to have a truckload of automotive rims delivered to my garage. After getting married I returned to full-time jobs often in the packaging design industry. My introduction to UI/UX came while working at Redbox and helping design their vending kiosk navigation. Currently am a Web UI/UX Designer for a University. This fits me well as have always loved designing clean, organized navigation and improving the user experience. Thank you Adobe for your products has been the #1 tools in my career. Also thanks to Kai Krause who brought innovation to the computer graphics industry.
