Our manufacturing facility in China uses a Han’s Laser marking machine to etch logo & labeling on the plastic housings of our product. We have tried sending pdf files created in Adobe Illustrator (2023) but it will not print correctly (particularly filled areas and sometimes adds a gap in the middle of a word). The laser machine owner's manual says pdf's are an acceptable filetype. Can you provide suggestions for making our AI artwork usable on the Han’s Laser machine? Thank you !

Did you try the different types of PDF? Perhaps PDF/X-1 could do?
Or at least do not include the "Illustrator editability"?

@Ron24431580krh1 I am guessing the 'embed fonts' are enabled while saving the PDF, but did you also try making the text to be 'converted to outlines' to prevent the 'gap in the middle of a word?'

First I would suggest converting any live text objects to outlines. If any variable fonts are used check the outline view to make sure any overlaps aren't present (and use the Pathfinder Unite command to fix any overlaps in letters if they are found). It might help to expand any live line strokes. When saving PDF files from Illustrator it might also help to save down to an earlier PDF version.
