Illustrator template files (ait) do not open as "untitled"

New Here ,

I have made an Illustrator template for team use, and saved it as "TemplateName.ait". Opening it should open it as "untitled.ai", yet it always opens it as "TemplateName.ait". Obviouly this means people can accidentally overwrite the tempalte, defeating the purpose entirely. How can I set this so that it opens as a tempalte and not a regular document?

I can't reproduce this in 27.9 or 28.4.1

What version and OS are you using? What exact process do you use to save/open the file (i.e. do you select 'Save As Template', or just Save As and replace the extension with AIT etc.)?

Hello @Brian Merrill36488872b05o,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, exact details of your workflow, and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3WgZxx1), as suggested by Doug, so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
