Most of the time illustrator gives me an "error unknown" and crashes when I use the eyedropper tool to get color from an AI Generator image. Ihave tried to save the adobe file and the imported image as a pdf. It seems to kind of work, but still the "error unknown" pops up. Also, my menu bar won't respond when I click on it. I have used illustrator for many many years and I think this bug is something new, at least for me. It is really causing anxiety for me.

Did you try to restart your machine?
Make a backup of your preferences and reset them?

You don't need to make a backup before resetting Preferences, but if you made any custom changes, you need to recreate them.

Turned off Gpu. Didn't work. It's the ai app causing the trouble. Illustrator doesn't like it.

So the JPEG is the original file created by that app?
I have no issues at all picking up a color from that placed image. You did place it, right?

I have worked on several images from the same app. Each time it gives me an unknown error. I believe Illustrator does not want outside AI generated images into it's app for any reason. I understand they sell this technology also? I even downloaded some decorative elements from a very popular site, and it also gave me unknow error after a while. I have been reading about the controversies with AI generated art. I was blindsided by this issue. I never got unknown error in the past. Ever! Only when I bring this particular AI generated art into Illustrator. I have done many complicated illustrations in Illustrator, meshes, etc over the years. Never any problem. I am beginning to think maybe Adobe is being cautious about this technology. I have been reading more about it and it seems that there really are no laws yet, in regards to copyrights, public domain, stealing art from artists, and on and on. If that is the case, I will avoid placing this AI app in Illustrator because I love the app and have done much work in it. I just wish if that is what is going on it should be known. I am only speculating here. I could be totally wrong. So, in a nutshell, the issue really is not picking up color but AI generated art being placed in Illustrtor. At least for me.
Does anyone else have this issue too? I can see the debate on this technology is far from over. I will attach 3 more images which are from this AI site. Thankfully, there is another app I can use to draw portraits in other than Illustrator. I will use that one from now on. This should really not be happening to customers who have been loyal and pay monthly for a long while. Geezz. Who needs the anxiety!!!

Can you please stop telling fairy tales?
It's simply not true.
There is a technical reason for everything. I have tired out your image and it gave no error whatsoever when picking up colors.
If this is only happening after hours working on a file, then maybe you are having trouble with RAM being used up and your computer could need a reboot. Other apps, such as browsers are known for eating up RAM very quickly so having something run in a browser might add to your problems.

Fairytales? Wow! I think you are the one telling the tales. I'm stating facts. I'm not getting anywhere with you. But thanks for your effort. Everyone has to be loyal.

There is nothing special with the images that would prevent Illustrator from working with it.
If you have problems, they will probably happen with similar sized images and similar editing in Illustrator.
You say "I'm stating facts" but also "I am only speculating here. I could be totally wrong"
I think you are wrong speculating that Illustrator willingly prevents working with your images.
