I am using Illustrator to convert PNG images to SVG's. I am doing black and white images. I do these steps: Image Trace,Expand, Ungroup, Path, simplify. Last step is to do compound path make. When I perform this function the image turns from black to white. A compound path is made but I can't figure out how to change the color back to white'

I would also like help converting images to SVG's that are colored. How do I color etc and not have the compound path change the color to white

Thanks!!

Therea,

As I (mis)understand it you need to either:

A) Ignore White (in the Settings), Image Trace,Expand, Ungroup, Path, simplify

or

B) Image Trace,Expand, Ungroup, Path, simplify, and delete any white path(s) somewhere in the process (you can use Select Same Fill Color if you have more then one).

Please post a screenshot of what you are working on. What are you trying to achieve with the compound path, knocking out he background???

Turn on ignore white in the image trace settings, prior to expanding, that will make the background transparent.
