Is there Slices in Illustrator?

Hi everybody,

Is there something like the knife tool in Cinema 4D in Illustrator where I can make a spline cut through outlines/groups/letters?

I want to chop my lettering into all these segmented bits so I can shift parts of the letters sideways, kind of like bricks or puzzle pieces.

Is there a way to run a cut line through them all and just make a cut or outline and select/move the portion in question?

When you create outlines from type, you can use the knife tool to cut up the letters.

Or select a path above the outlined type and choose Object > Path > Divide Objects Below.

Or draw a path above the type select both and click Divide in the Pathfinder panel.
