Limit program actions individually to each artwork, similar to indesign

Many times I wanted to copy, cut or just move and perform actions between different artboards without other artboards being affected by the proximity they have to each other when organizing the workspace, but the content between artboards sometimes crosses and prevents me from being a little more efficient in this task. Is there any way to limit the illustrator's actions individually on each artwork, in a similar way like indesign manage their workspace and pages?

I've found it helpful to first make the artboard of interest the active one (for example, select it on the Artboards panel), then to select just the objects on that artboard, choose Select > All on Active Artboard.

But it would depend on what actions you're trying to perform.
