Hello! I have been having an issue with Illustrator in which every time I launch the app it opens to the home page, but then immediately freezes and stops responding, and I have to use the Task Manager to close it.
I have tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling creative cloud, using the Adobe Cleaner, uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator, ensuring that Illustrator is updated, and resetting my preferences.
After I tried the Adobe Cleaning last night it worked once, but after closing it and trying again this morning the issue is back. Does anyone know what may be wrong?
What kind of hardware is in your computer (CPU, amount of RAM, type of graphics board, etc)? Was the installation of Adobe Illustrator working properly on this computer previously?
Sometimes the drivers for graphics cards or attached periphreals, such as graphics tablets, can cause problems with Adobe Illustrator. NVidia released an update for its RTX graphics cards a few days ago. I run the Studio driver on my computers rather than the default Game Ready Driver.

If driver updates won't work I would suggest installing either a previous build of Adobe Illustrator or even trying the Beta release.

Update: Just as with the previous time, once I closed Illustrator it would not let me open it again and is once again Not Responding. I have tried running a previous release but it is also not working.

Hello @emmamurdock,
I hope the problem is resolved by now. If not, please try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and check if it helps.
Also, try the following steps to reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and share your observations:
- Close all Adobe apps
- Uninstall all currently installed Microsoft Visual C Redistributable packages
- Install the latest Microsoft Visual C Redistributable package from here: (https://adobe.ly/4gMw4C9)
- Relaunch Illustrator
