Hi all,

Could use your help please as I haven't packaged logos for a looong time.

I need to merge the character to the tree but with a transparent outline on the character so once rasterized it will be clear outline, hence when inputting onto coloured backgrounds you then see the background colour.

Thanks so much!!

bellsh,

As I (mis)understand it, to get simple paths, you can:

1) Select the character, then Object>Path>Offset Path by the desired gap width;

2) Shift Click the tree and apple to also select those;

3) Pathfinder>Minus front/exclude from shape area.

This ought to leave you with the full character and the tree/apple with cutouts corresponding to the offset character path, so the background shows in between.

Why rasterize?

If you must, remember to use a raster format with Transparency, ruling out a JPEG.
