Part of SVG data lost when saved from Illustrator

When I try to save data from Illustrator, it's omitting part of the code. Specifically <desc> tags. Has anyone seen this? If so, how do I resolve it?

How it should look when saved

Example:

<circle fill="#800000" fill-opacity="0.5" cx="405.4" cy="843.7" r="6">
<desc>29:1:4</desc>
</circle>

How it looks now when I save

Example:

<circle fill="#800000" fill-opacity="0.5" cx="405.4" cy="843.7" r="6">

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
