PASTE COMMAND PASTES OUT OF VIEW, NOT CENTRE OF SCREEN, RANDOM EACH TIME.

Community Beginner ,

ILLUSTRATOR 27.8 2023 ON MAC M1.

The paste command V (that we have all been using since 1990's) now pastes to a random place out of view. Like 7 artboards out of view.

Paste in front pastes 2 artborads to the right

Paste in place does the same

But its the fact that  V just pastes 180cm up the workspace for one thing and 90cm up the workspace for another that was on the same artboard before. If I move up the screen - the paste goes off again too, to where I cant see the result. Nightmare.

I can't see any setting to fix this.

Anyone?  Help!

Problem solved - GUIDES. Which I dont use in this context so I have them switched off. But there were some legacy guids hanging around. Thats what caused this problem. I suggest anyone else who has placing problems with the paste command looks at guides!

Sorry - Paste in place works most of the time.

But now Illustrator tells me if I paste the (10cm square object) will be placed completely off the drawing area.

Hello @project77,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, a public link to a sample file after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc., and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/4djv4nS), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
