Paste in Place doesn't work if you're pasting inside a shape

My mistake- I was using Paste in Front shortcut instead of Paste in Place!

Sorry to have bothered you.

Steps to reproduce the technique (for those interested) are as follows:

1) Make a bitmap texture, place it in your AI doc, embed it, cut or copy it (either).

2) Make a simple rectangle shape, select it, check "draw inside mode".

3) Shift + Ctrl + V to Paste in Place.

You can colour your bitmap texture graphic just as though it were a vector object, using the swatches, colour picker, etc!
