Pen Tool: shortcut for toggling between clicking nodes to a freehand drawing

Is there a shortcut where I can be in a Pen Tool flow, then hold a shortcut to continue the line in a freehand style, and release the shortcut to continue in node method? I know how to do it by drawing with the Pen, stopping to switch to the Pencil, then stopping, switching back to Pen, then selecting and joining the paths, but want a more seemless flow.

It's possible in the pencil tool to switch from freehand to lines/horizontal/vertical lines. But not in the pen tool.
