Hello, so I do not understand what is going on. So I am trying to shade with the blob brus and have complimentary shading brushes with different intensities. However as you can see in the attached screen shot. When I select the brush and go to paint, as soon as i release the blob brush goes to a different size, ontop of it deactivating fill and turning on stroke. When i select again it goes back to fill, and as soon as I draw and release it turns it to stroke. Someone please help. Thank you so much!

What you are doing is painting with the blob brush and then applying a pattern to it.
The blob brush will always turn to stroke, that's how it works. But still it should apply the stroke color to the fill. You are probably using this from some tutorial or you have bought this set of patterns. Are you sure you have set up Illustrator according to the instructions?

The Blob Brush is a special kind of brush, it does not create strokes, but filled areas.
You cannot see the size of the blob brush in the Control Panel.
Double click the Blob Brush in the Tool panel to see it's size.
You can control the size also with the bracket keys [ ]
