Printer cutting off left hand edge all of a sudden

So here's the rub..
I have printed off my file that I have been changing dozens of times over the last few months.

Every other time the printer placed the file in the center of the A4 paper, but now the printer jams it on the left hand edge and cuts off 5 mm off the edge.
NB, I get the people at the print shop to print it.
Have I done something differently on the AI file?
I save it as a PDF file.

can you help me to understand how the file is placed for printing?

thanks heaps for your replies.
Love AI.

Did you set up the artboard size in the exact size the print shop has specified? e.g. A4 if in Europe, Letter in the U.S.?

And if you then open the PDF in Acrobat, does it look right?

If that is both the case, then the print shop is doing something weird or has provided wrong specifications.

Hi there. I  printed it off on y home computer and it works fine.
Normally the file sits in the middle of the A4 page , but today it was butted up to the left hand edge and cut off 5mm from the edge.

The copy shop were adamant that they had it right , what do you reckon they are doing wrong?

Did you set up the artboard size that they specified?

If you set up a larger artboard and then need to rely on the printer resizing your artwork, this won't work. So please tell us how the file is set up.

If they print on A4 - is your page size A4?

When opening the file in Acrobat, you find that in the document info.

In Illiustrator, select the artboard with the artboard tool and then check it out in the control panel.

Window > Control

And when you are in artboard editing mode with the artboard tool, then you will find the W and H of the artboard in the control panel.

Could it have something to do with "align to artboard?" I think I fiddled with that , not knowing what I was doing.

It needs to be the output size. If the printer is printing to A4, then yes, it needs to be A4
