Hola Comunidad,

  • He desinstalado y reinstalado tanto Illustrator como Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Confirmé que este problema es específico de mi MacBook Pro y no se manifiesta en otros dispositivos.

Información del Sistema:

  • Modelo: MacBook Pro M1, 2020
  • Memoria: 8GB
  • Sistema Operativo: macOS Sonoma 14.1.12

Saludos,

You say that you are on Illustrator CC 2023 but say that it is version 28.1. Actually 28.1 is CC 2024. This is important because Illustrator CC 2023 is not fully compatible with Sonoma and that could be the problem. CC 2024 is officially compatible. If you actually are on 28.1 then you are on CC2024 and this would not be a compatibility issue. If you are actually on version 27.x then you are really on CC 2023 and it probaly is a matter of compatibility.

Hello again,

Thank you for pointing out the confusion regarding the version of Illustrator. I would like to correct my mistake: I am using the latest version of Illustrator, which is CC 2024 (version 28.1), and not the 2023 version as I previously mentioned.

I realize this detail is crucial, especially in terms of compatibility with macOS Sonoma. In the attached video, it can be verified that I am using Illustrator CC 2024. I apologize for the confusion caused by the incorrect information in my initial message.

Given that a system compatibility issue does not seem to be the problem, could you please suggest other potential solutions for the persistent selection issue I am experiencing?

I greatly appreciate your time and assistance.

It doesn't sound like you have tried resetting your Illustrator preferences. This will restore the program to its defaults which, hopefully, can fix this issue.

To do so on a Mac:

The User Library folder in which Illustrator’s preferences are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that Illustrator is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N).With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called “Adobe Illustrator <Version #> Settings” (earlier versions of Illustrator might just say “Adobe Illustrator”) and the file called “com.adobe.Illustrator.plist” and delete both that folder and that file. When Illustrator is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.

The advantage of manually deleting preference files in this manner is that after you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed response. I appreciate the clear instructions on how to reset the preferences in Adobe Illustrator CC 2024. This seemed like a plausible solution to the issue I've been facing, and I hadn't thought of trying it before.

I followed the steps you outlined and reset the preferences as suggested. However, I regret to inform you that this approach did not resolve the persistent selection problem. It appears the issue might be more complex or possibly related to something else.

Again, I appreciate your time and assistance in helping me troubleshoot this issue. Your guidance has been invaluable, and I am open to any other suggestions you might have to resolve this problem.

Best regards,

Another idea: are you using the Magnet app? It has caused this issue for other people.

There are some long thready about that issue - "Sticky selection". Such as: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/sticky-selection-tool-in-illustrator-27-9/td-...

If this keeps happening when you boot into Safe Mode, then the issue is somewhere in your system. Some extension, some mouse driver, a tablet, antivirus, a third party plugin.

Also: It was not a good idea to update to Sonoma. Illustrator is not fully ready for it, there are still some strange issues.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing the link to the Adobe community thread regarding the "Sticky selection" issue. I'll definitely look into it for more insights and potential solutions shared by others who might have encountered the same problem.

I understand your point about the possibility of the issue being rooted in my system, particularly if it persists in Safe Mode. I'll check for any conflicting extensions, mouse drivers, tablet settings, antivirus software, or third-party plugins that might be causing this.

Regarding the update to macOS Sonoma, I appreciate your advice. It's unfortunate to hear that Illustrator is not fully optimized for this version yet, and that there are some known issues. I'll consider this moving forward and will look into possible workarounds or wait for updates that might address these compatibility challenges.

Thank you once again for your guidance and for pointing me towards additional resources. It's greatly helpful as I navigate through resolving this issue.

Best regards,
