¡Ayuda!

Hi @flavio Pavez,
Thanks for sharing the details and screenshots. Could you please confirm the exact version of Illustrator and operating system you're working on? Let me know if this happens only with a specific file or with all your projects. Try saving the original file as a copy with PDF compatibility enabled and then import it again to check if the alignment remains correct. If the issue persists, please share a short screen recording of your workflow along with the affected file, so I can review it.
Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek

Hello, thank you for your response.
I’ve already done everything you suggested, but the issue still persists. The version I’m using of illustrator is 29.8.2. on a PC whit Windows 11 Pro.
This happens with every file I import. The only way it works is by creating a new artboard, copying and pasting, and then saving again (it didn’t use to work like this, and clearly it shouldn’t). What worries me is that with more complex projects that have multiple layers, I might make a mistake.
In addition to this, when I’m working on a file, I get a “complex visualization” error and it only lets me work in Outline mode. In the short video I’m sending, you can also see how it freezes when I try to use the import option. It’s been behaving like this since the last update.
Please help me to resolve this issue. Thank you.

Hi @FlavioPavez,
Thanks a lot for sharing the recording. I checked it, and the reason you're seeing a difference when importing is that the source file and the new file have different artboard sizes. When the artboard dimensions don't match, Illustrator repositions the artwork relative to the new artboard, which makes it appear as if the elements have shifted or moved out of place.
To fix this, please create a new file with the same artboard size as the original before pasting or importing the artwork. That should help keep everything aligned as expected.
Let me know if this works.
Abhishek

Hello again.
First of all, sorry for the delay in replying — I was out of town for several days.
I wanted to let you know that this doesn’t solve the problem. Regardless of whether the new artboard has the same size as the imported file or not, everything still gets misaligned. The only thing that works is creating a new file, copying and pasting the elements from the previous one, and saving it again.
To give you some context: I’ve been working with this kind of workflow for several years to create layouts for flexo and offset printing, and this is the first time something like this has happened.
Looking forward to your comments. Best regards.

Hello again. Now I have another issue with this same situation, but I think it’s bigger than the previous one:
I have an artwork I’m working on, and a client is going to send me some corrections. However, when I open the file, everything appears shifted and out of place. Strangely, the preview from the program’s home screen looks fine. I tried placing it as a linked file, and it displays correctly. But when I open it, everything becomes disorganized.
I think this is now a real problem because not only does this issue with imported files persist, but it’s also affecting my original files. Please, I’d appreciate any help with this. I’m attaching some screenshots.

Hello @FlavioPavez,
Could you share a link to a sample file after uploading it to a file-sharing service here or via DM, so I can get it checked with the team?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I’m sending you a WeTransfer link with the file. This is actually the same file where I had issues with elements shifting out of place.
Donwload Link:
As you can see, I have three artboards. When I try to import it into a new Illustrator file (regardless of the artboard size), the elements appear outside the artboard, as if they had moved; but when I open the file itself, everything is in its correct position. As I mentioned, this doesn’t happen only with this file — it has become common every time I import something into a new file. It happens about 3 out of 5 times. I already have the latest version, which was updated today, but the problem still persists.
I’d like to reiterate that this started happening one or two updates before the latest version. And again, I want to emphasize that I’ve been working this way for over five years, and this is the first time I’ve experienced this issue. The most concerning part is that the problem is fixed only if I copy all the content from the file and paste it into a new one; when I do that, I can import it without the elements appearing displaced in the preview.

Hello again,
I’d like to know if maybe someone has managed to find a solution to this problem. It’s still happening with about 90% of the files I work on. I’m attaching another screenshot. This really worries me, as it’s the first time in 16 years of working with Illustrator that this has happened. What concerns me the most is that at some point I might fail to notice a misaligned or misplaced element, which could lead to significant financial losses during the printing process at the various companies I work with.
Please, help!
