Hi everyone! I have a problem with the project I'm working on and I can not figure out. I need to "punch out" the inner orange outlined panel from the background black panel that's behind (see first screenshot). However, when I do it, the arch part of that section doesn't punch out (see second screenshot). I have tired everything I can think of and can't get it to work. Funny enough, if I fill it with color, it works just fine (see third image). It seems like the problem has something to do with the arch effect? If I try to join all the paths, the arch doesn't stay in place. It turns into a straight line. Thank you!

Effects need to be expanded first, then you can punch it out of other shapes.

Are the shapes separate objects or Appearance effects?
Could you show the Layers panel (expanded) and Appearance panel with all Fills and Strokes showed?
