Question on illustrator CS6 plugin error on startup

Explorer ,
Nov 21, 2023 Nov 21, 2023

Hi Community,

I'm hoping somone might shed light on this startup pop up error.

I believe this is a corrupt and bad plugin.    I'm not sure how to fix this, it occurs everytime I launch CS6 illustrator.

What plugins (if any) did you have installed in Illustrator CS6? If there were third party plugins installed have any of them been updated recently or even within the last couple or so years. Current versions of some Illustrator plugins no longer support older CS versions of Illustrator.

Sorry, I'm currently using CS6 and it's a 3rd party CS6 plugin (GCC's GreatCut software, illustrator plugin)

How can I uninstall , remove, delete, refresh, reset, etc  Illustrator CS6 so that this plugin will not try to load on CS6 illustrator startup.

Do you need that plugin? If not, uninstall it.

If you're on a Windows-based PC you could go into Windows settings and remove the plugin there. The procedure depends on which version of Windows is running.

Click the Windows start button on the task bar. Click on Settings in the first menu that pops up. The "Home" window should appear at first. On the left side of the window you should see an "Apps" listing under "Home," "System," "Bluetooth & devices" and all that other stuff. When you click on "Apps" you'll see "Installed apps" at the top of a list of options. Once you're in the "Installed apps" page you'll see a complete list of applications installed. Scroll down to find the GreatCut software item. Click the little three dots icon at the right end of the app's listing. Choose uninstall. That should do it.

No, I don't want to uninstall GreatCut software.

I'm looking to find out how I can with just Adobe Illustrator CS6, reset preferences or delete this plugin that is causing that startup error.  Holding the Alt, Ctl Shift keys on startup are only a temporary fix

I don't think resetting AI Preferences will clear out an installed plugin.

You could try looking in the Adobe Illustrator CS6 Plug-ins folder(s) and manually removing anything related to the Great Cut software. I'm running the current CC version of Illustrator, but I'm pretty sure the file path would be along the lines of C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6\Plug-ins.

Just to be safe you need to check another location to see if anything is in there too. It would be something like:
C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings\en_US\x64\Plug-ins

If doing that "manual cleaning" process doesn't work you may have to do a full uninstall and reinstall of Illustrator CS6. I think Adobe's activation servers for CS5.5 and CS6 applications are still running.
