Greetings!

Very new to Illustrator here, thanks in advance for your patience. I'm having issues with getting the Recolor Artwork Tool to open up on some of my pieces. I know that it won't work on jpg or png files, so I tried uploading it as svg, which didn't work, and tried doing an Image Trace first. Still nada.

Whenever I go to open the Recolor Artwork Tool, I'm getting a message that it's unavailable. However, if I just draw some simple shapes on another artboard in the same project, it works. What's going on?

After Image Trace you must Expand to get the vector objects who will work with recolor artwork.
