Recolour help from Adobe Stock Image

New Here ,
Jul 02, 2025 Jul 02, 2025

I am new to Illustrator, and I am trying to recolour the Adobe Stock Image "AdobeStock_129114019" (Thin infinity sign) and I have followed the steps to recolour the Artwork. Edit - Edit Colours - Recolour Artwrok - Advanced Options - Select the NEW colour - enter in the HEX  and it does not work. I select the colour and nothing changes. What steps am I missing? This image was downloaded from Adobe Stock and not edited since downloading. The other issue I am having is that the HEX code I am trying to use is "out of gamet" I am trying to use #2233CC.

Thanks for any help!

Are you recolouring the vector version? (ai/eps).

Easiest way to change the colour is to select it, and choose a colour from your swatches. Make sure you've selected "fill" if you want to change the black to the "2233CC" colour. Your hex code should work fine there. My document is in CMYK. Check your colour settings here: File > Document Colour Mode

Thanks Tina.
However, this is still not working. Yes it is the vector file.  I am still unable to recolour the file.

Also the colour 2233CC appears VERY different in Illustrator than it does when googled or in Canva.

Hello @123331222,

I'm sorry to hear you're still having trouble with Recolour Artwork in Illustrator. Could you confirm the version of the OS/Illustrator installed and share a small screen recording of your exact workflow and the problem, so we can better assist you with this?

Also, for help with the colors appearing different in Illustrator, please try the suggestions shared in this community post for Windows (https://adobe.ly/44tfUsP) to check if they help.

If you're on macOS, please try recalibrating your monitor for sRGB (https://adobe.ly/4lgBl7Y), restarting your computer, and then relaunching Illustrator to see if it helps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Anubhav

That artwork is blck. In Recolor artwork you first need to allow the Recoloring of black. Then you also need to check the document color mode. It's probably a CMYK document. You cannot expect the color to look the same in Canva and in your CMYK document. That won't happen. You want to use this in a screen based project? Then change the document color mode to RGB.

Here's how to turn on the recoloring of black: https://youtu.be/4TPXQK7hdmM

Thanks Monika, for the reply and the video link. I have allowed the recolouring of black and that worked. THANKS!

I am waiting to create this for a printed artwork (e.x, logo's to go on a vehicle). As I understand, if I change the CMYK to RGB that is not recommended. When I look up this HEX code 2233cc on Google, it also does not look like the colour that appears in Illustrator.

Google probably shows you an RGB color. Your color is a very bright, shiny blue. It cannot be printed with process colors. And so Illustrator will not show it in CMYK document color mode. You have to either print a spot color or live with what CMYK can do.
