Retype Beta Leaves White Background

I am using the Retype Beta function on a raster image and it works great except it is leaving a white background where the text previously was. Any idea how to remove this? I attached the photo here. You can see above the text where the white boxes are left.

It does a rather crude editing on the image. So you might want to take the image into Photoshop to edit out the text if needed.
