I'm having issues with Illustrator working with files all set to RGB and same color profile. When copying a graphic from one file to another, the RGB values change, therefore the color change sligthly.
I have worked around it creating a library for the colors I want to use, however, I also added to the library graphics I need to reuse, such as logos, and they change colors when placed back into files, even into the original ones they came from.
Tried checking the profiles, switching profiles, changing between process and spot color, suggestions in somewhat similar posts here, ... and nothing has worked so far. Document color mode RGB and profile attached. Color Management Policies also don't seem to matter since "Preserve embedded profiles" and "Convert to working space" are having the same results. Illustrator 28.2 (2024) on MacOS Ventura.
Example attached: left, the original colors used, in the middle, the colors of the assets that have been extracted from the file and dragged back into it, on the right, the original colors were copy/pasted into another document (with the same settings) and then pasted back into the original file.
Original: RGB 255 115 0/ 227 207 0/ 253 247 172
Library: RGB 255 104 0/ 231 207 0/ 254 247 162
Other file: RGB 234 113 46/ 255 205 68/ 251 245 170
Anyone with a solution? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately colors in CC libraries are not color managed. Only colors that were added and used with the same profile will give the correct color. If the profile that was used when the color was added is different from the current document color profile, the color will change. Only the numbers are used.

Profile is the same, document is the same and it still comes back wrong.
Also regardless of libraries, only copy/ pasting graphics between files with the same profiles.

Marina, maybe you already did that, but can you compare the document profile (you can show that at the bottom of your document) with the profile in your color settings?

Thanks Ton, but already did that and tried also switching to others in different documents. Didn't resolve.

Can you please show all the settings?
What kind of content is it that you are copying from one file to the next? In case it's a photo, Very weird things might happen.

It's all vectors, without any effects, colored in Illustrator.
In the meantime I also tried switching the profile on both documents and a few other tests, but didn't get anywhere.

Can you check the boxes for profile mismatches and missing profiles?

Thanks, that worked for copy/ pasting for some files, keeping numbers instead of appearance. For other files there is still a mismatch when pasted and same when importing from library, regardless of which options I choose (use/ disregard embedded profile) when importing the graphics.

The fact that you now get messages means that there is a difference between color profiles.
Colors from CC Libraries cannot be trusted, they are just numbers without a profile.
Spot and global colors are a different subject.

It'e because then I started testing with different ones to see if something different could work 😕
But now trying to set it all back in the same and editing things, also "not color managing" when importing and seems to be working so far. Thanks!

Good to hear you've got it working.
