Same code - much slower when called from CEP extension

Hi there, I have a piece of code that loops through path items. when it is called from a script (JSX) it is working nicely, when it is working from a CEP HTML extension, it is very slow.

It feels as if it is refreshing the UI on every path item when it is called from the extension, but I might be wrong here. Maybe there is an option to stop UI refresh while the function is running?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
