Save as a legacy CC from 2024 Version

Community Beginner ,

How do I save as, or export as a Legacy CC file from an illustrator 2024 version? I need to open an Illustrator 2024 file in a much much earlier version.  I see no version box in save as, or export as. If I save as a pdf file I will lose any swatches created in the swatch pallettes.

Sorry! Got it! I must follow through with the save as to an area, then the window comes up. Thank you though for your reply.

Hello @kim_5546,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind trying to save your artwork as an AI file and then selecting the version under Illustrator options to check if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Thank you but I am working in 2024 Illustrator version and when I save it does not give me that option. There is no illustrator options available or version box. I know the earlier versions have that.

Hello @kim_5546,

Thanks for sharing the details. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator and a screen recording of your workflow (https://adobe.ly/3WFiCaY), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

If you save an open Illustrator AI document using the "Save" command it will simply save the artwork in the file version of which it was previously saved. If you choose the "Save As" command and select Illustrator AI from the file options in the drop down menu it will bring up the dialog box where you can choose various older "legacy" file versions of Illustrator.

Do a save as, make sure you save on your computer (not as cloud document). Select from Format: Illustrator

Click Save and the options will appear.

Also, remember that saving as an older version may not support some features of the more recent versions.
